About ResortRival
A smarter way to discover and compare ski resorts around the world.
What ResortRival Does
ResortRival is a ski resort comparison and decision platform built to make choosing where to ski easier.
Instead of jumping between resort websites, price lists, reviews and travel guides, ResortRival brings the information that matters into one place. We compare 50 European ski resorts across skiing, snow reliability, value, après-ski, beginner suitability, resort experience and more, helping you understand not just which resorts are highly rated, but which are right for your trip.
Our ratings, rankings, comparison tools and Ski Resort Finder are all built around the same reviewed resort dataset, so you can explore your options in different ways without starting your research from scratch.
How We Research Ski Resorts
ResortRival combines structured resort data with independent research and analysis to build a consistent picture of each destination.
Wherever possible, factual information such as ski-area size, altitude, lift-pass pricing, terrain and resort facilities is checked against official resort, ski-area or operator sources. For aspects that cannot be measured from a single official figure — such as atmosphere, après-ski, convenience or the experience for non-skiers — we use a wider range of credible sources and research to form a balanced assessment.
The goal is not simply to collect as many statistics as possible. We focus on the information that genuinely helps someone understand the differences between resorts and make a better decision about where to ski.
How Resort Ratings Work
Resorts are assessed across individual categories rather than being judged by one overall opinion. These include areas such as snow reliability, affordability, après-ski, beginner suitability, terrain, amenities and the experience available away from the slopes.
Ratings generally use a 0–10 scale so resorts can be compared consistently across ResortRival. Some categories are driven heavily by measurable information, while others naturally require more judgement. We therefore combine quantitative data with researched qualitative assessment rather than pretending every part of a ski holiday can be reduced to a single statistic.
Scores are reviewed when new information, pricing or research materially changes our assessment.
How Rankings Work
ResortRival rankings are built from the same underlying resort data and ratings, but different ranking categories use different priorities.
A resort that performs brilliantly for advanced skiers may not be the best choice for beginners. Likewise, the best-value resort should not be judged using the same priorities as the best luxury, après-ski or snow-sure resort.
Each ranking therefore gives greater importance to the factors most relevant to that category.
This allows ResortRival to compare resorts in a way that reflects what someone is actually looking for, rather than relying on one universal definition of the “best” ski resort.
How the Ski Resort Finder Works
The Ski Resort Finder uses your answers; including factors such as skiing ability, group type, budget, preferred atmosphere and trip priorities — and compares them against ResortRival’s reviewed resort data.
It then identifies the resorts whose strengths most closely match those preferences and explains why they may suit your trip. The Finder is designed to narrow down the options rather than simply recommend the same highly rated resorts to everyone.
The Finder and Rankings are built from the same underlying ResortRival dataset, helping keep recommendations consistent across the site.
Keeping Our Data Up to Date
Ski resorts change from season to season. Lift-pass prices increase, ski areas develop, transport options change and the experience offered by a resort can evolve over time.
ResortRival reviews its data as new information becomes available and updates material changes when they are identified. Time-sensitive information such as lift-pass pricing is recorded with the relevant season where possible, helping distinguish current information from older figures.
While we aim to keep ResortRival accurate and useful, prices, operating details and other changeable information should always be confirmed with the relevant resort or operator before booking.
Editorial Independence
ResortRival’s ratings, rankings and recommendations are produced independently.
Commercial relationships do not determine a resort’s rating, ranking position or recommendation. If ResortRival earns a commission from a booking or referral link, that does not change how the resort is assessed or where it appears within our rankings or comparison tools.
Any paid partnership, sponsored placement or sponsored content will be identified clearly so users can distinguish commercial content from ResortRival’s independent ratings and recommendations.
Corrections & Feedback
Accuracy matters to ResortRival, but ski resort information can change quickly. Prices are updated, lift networks develop, transport options change and occasionally information may become outdated or incorrect.
If you represent a resort, work within the ski industry or simply spot something that does not look right, we welcome credible corrections and additional information. We review feedback against the available evidence and update ResortRival where a change is justified.
You can report an issue or suggest a correction through our Contact page.
The Vision
ResortRival is still growing. The goal is to expand coverage, improve data quality and add deeper insight as the platform develops.
Over time, we want to combine structured resort data with more first-hand research, richer comparisons and useful feedback from skiers themselves — giving people a clearer picture of what a resort is actually like before they book.
The long-term aim is simple: to build the most useful and trusted independent platform for comparing ski resorts and choosing where to ski.
